First Impressions
Agnes Arber Gin celebrates the life of one of the world's greatest botany experts. Nine botanicals are distilled in Jenny — one of the oldest working copper gin stills in the UK at Langley Distillery, Birmingham. The recipe converges nine herbs and fruits into a balanced, approachable London Dry.
Tasting
The nose is solid heady juniper followed by sweet lemon tones and warm baking spices. On the palate, juniper harmoniously balanced with soft orange and lemon, a hint of liquorice sweetness, smooth and not overdone. The finish carries liquorice sweetness fading to clean juniper.
The Bottom Line
Agnes Arber earns a 7 for a well-balanced London Dry from one of Britain's most historic stills. The botanist namesake is fitting — the nine-botanical recipe shows botanical understanding, and the Langley pedigree ensures quality. At around £25, excellent value.
