First Impressions
Ben Lomond Classic is the flagship gin from Loch Lomond Distillery — eleven carefully selected botanicals including hand-picked blackcurrants and locally foraged rowan berries. Double Gold at San Francisco 2024 with a remarkable 98/100 score, and Gold at the London Spirits Competition.
Tasting
The nose shows citrus orange with summer berries and delicate rose. On the palate, incredibly smooth with zesty lemon, crisp juniper and Szechuan pepper warmth, building berry sweetness. The finish is soft and fruity with rowan berry.
The Bottom Line
Ben Lomond Classic earns an 8 for 98/100 at San Francisco — near-perfect for a gin at this price. The rowan berries and Szechuan pepper give it distinctly Scottish character, and the smoothness is remarkable. At around £30, one of the best value gins available anywhere. Serve with blackberries and lime.
