First Impressions
Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin uses nine botanicals including hand-picked Norway spruce for a distinctive forest-fresh character alongside juniper, coriander, sweet orange and grapefruit. Made in Berkshire, it has collected an impressive haul of awards including Double Gold at the ISC 2022 and Gold at San Francisco.
Tasting
The nose delivers fresh pine from Norway spruce with sweet citrus and warming spice. On the palate, super fresh with lots of pine, sweet oily citrus, warming spice and bittersweet grapefruit — crisp and delicate. The finish lingers with pine and citrus, clean and refreshing.
The Bottom Line
Berkshire Botanical earns a 7 for a well-crafted English gin where the Norway spruce adds forest character that distinguishes it from the crowd. The Double Gold at ISC is well deserved. At around £28, excellent value for the quality. Best with orange peel garnish to amplify the citrus.
