First Impressions
Blind Tiger Piper Cubeba is distilled in small batches in a concealed western Belgian distillery — cubeb pepper double-distilled separately then blended with the copper pot still base. Malted barley adds full body and warmth. At 47%, it is daring and invigorating.
Tasting
The nose shows juniper, orange-lemon, violet blossom and blanched almonds. On the palate, cubeb pepper kicks immediately — malted barley providing full body, orange citrus cutting through prominently, cracked pepper with ginger-liquorice-cardamom earthiness. The finish is long and warming with malted barley afterglow.
The Bottom Line
Blind Tiger earns an 8 for Belgian craft at its most daring — the double-distilled cubeb pepper technique creates peppery complexity, and the malted barley body is genuinely distinctive. The concealed distillery backstory adds speakeasy romance. Complex, punchy and summery with orange blossom and spice.
