First Impressions
Dingle Original Gin is crafted in County Kerry with water from the distillery's own well and locally foraged botanicals — rowan berry, fuchsia, bog myrtle, hawthorn and heather capture the Kerry landscape. Macerated for 24 hours before distillation. It won both World's Best Gin and World's Best London Dry at the 2019 World Gin Awards.
Tasting
The nose opens with crisp juniper and mineral-tinged angelica, with floral spice from fuchsia and heather. On the palate, classic juniper leads with subtle blackberry jam and chamomile, a wave of mint lifts flavours before peppery coriander unfolds. The finish is medium-dry with mint, herbal hints and a gentle warm glow.
The Bottom Line
Dingle earns a 9 for World's Best Gin 2019 — thoroughly deserved. The Kerry foraged botanicals give it a sense of place that few gins can match, and the combination of fuchsia, heather and rowan berry creates something genuinely Irish rather than merely Irish-made. At around £35, a world champion at an approachable price.
