First Impressions
Faith & Sons is a Manchester microdistillery producing certified organic gin — a distinction that requires not just organic botanicals but organic-certified base spirit and a fully audited production process. Distiller Filipe works with just six botanicals from around the world, a minimalist approach that demands each ingredient earn its place. The result is a handcrafted gin where nothing hides behind a crowd of competing flavours.
Tasting
Six botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelica root, liquorice root, lemon verbena, and mandarin peel. The nose is complex yet not overwhelming — juniper with citrus and earthy depth. On the palate at 42.2%, extremely rich and balanced: great harmony between juniper, lemon verbena brightness, and mandarin sweetness. Liquorice and angelica provide an earthy depth that prevents this from becoming simply a citrus gin. The finish is rich and smooth with an earthy aftertaste and gently fading citrus.
The Bottom Line
Faith & Sons earns a 7 — proof that organic certification and quality are not mutually exclusive. Six botanicals, all balanced, nothing wasted. The lemon verbena is the quiet star — providing a citrus character more complex than simple lemon peel. Best in cocktails where the smooth, balanced profile supports other ingredients, or in a G&T with Mediterranean tonic. At £32, well-priced for a certified organic craft gin.
