First Impressions
Griffo Distillery takes their award-winning Scott Street Gin — America's Greatest London Dry 2025 — and rests it in their own whiskey barrels in Petaluma, Sonoma County. The barrel ageing transforms the Meyer lemon and grains of paradise character into something golden and warm, with vanilla and caramel joining the citrus and juniper.
Tasting
Scott Street Gin aged in Griffo's whiskey barrels. The nose is oak and vanilla with transformed Meyer lemon. On the palate at 44%, golden and warm with butterscotch and vanilla, the original gin character still recognisable. The finish is caramel and oak with Meyer lemon brightness.
The Bottom Line
Griffo Barrelled earns a 7 — the quality of the base gin (America's Greatest London Dry) ensures the barrel-aged version starts from an exceptional foundation. Best in a barrel-aged Negroni or neat. At £33, Californian barrel-aged gin from a gold-medal distillery.
