Finish

Fennel anise warmth with grapefruit brightness — the Gower sea air somehow present in the spirit

First Impressions

GŴYR (pronounced Gower) is distilled in Port Eynon on the Gower Peninsula, Swansea — Wales's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Eight botanicals include wild-foraged bronze and green fennel alongside pink grapefruit and lemon. Gold and Best Welsh London Dry at the World Gin Awards 2024.

Tasting

The nose is earthy and slightly spicy with smoother vanilla notes and juniper foundation. On the palate, eight botanicals blend lemon and pink grapefruit with wild fennel — coastal character with clean citrus brightness. The finish carries fennel anise warmth with grapefruit brightness.

The Bottom Line

GŴYR earns a 7 for Welsh terroir in a bottle. The wild-foraged fennel gives it genuine Gower character, and the sustainability focus adds modern purpose. Gold at World Gin Awards 2024 confirms what Swansea already knew.
