First Impressions
GŴYR Pinwydd (Pine in Welsh) features pine tips foraged from the dramatic North Gower coast alongside fresh cranberries, orange and pink peppercorns. At 43%, it brings out the juniper and citrus beautifully. From the same Port Eynon distillery as the flagship GŴYR gin.
Tasting
The nose shows sweet orange with juniper and red fruit. On the palate, outstanding oily zesty fresh orange giving way to drier pine and spicy notes — juiciness of orange pulp, herbal pine needles, fire from peppercorns. The finish sees pine and peppercorn emerging with coastal warmth.
The Bottom Line
GŴYR Pinwydd earns a 7 for a genuinely Welsh botanical concept. The foraged pine tips give it a coastal character distinct from the flagship GŴYR, and the cranberry adds unexpected tartness. Bronze at London Spirits Competition. Best with orange zest or pink grapefruit garnish.
