First Impressions
Pin Gin made history in 2017 as the first gin distilled in Lincolnshire in modern times. Made by Bottomley Distillers in a charming 35-litre alembic still named Dotty, ten botanicals are steeped for 24 hours before distillation. The recipe has been fine-tuned since launch for a smoother, more rounded profile.
Tasting
The nose delivers elegant floral notes first — rose and lavender with citrus freshness. On the palate, the florals are shortly followed by a kick of orange, lime and cinnamon. Oily juniper develops alongside earthy cucumber notes with black pepper warmth. The finish is clean and modern — smooth and rounded with lingering floral and citrus.
The Bottom Line
Pin Gin London Dry earns a 7 for a well-crafted small-batch gin that puts Lincolnshire on the gin map. The cucumber and rose combination is elegant without being feminine, and the 24-hour maceration in a tiny still creates genuine depth. At around £29, good value for artisanal gin with local provenance.
