First Impressions
Shining Cliff is made by White Peak Distillery at the Derwent Wire Works in Ambergate, Derbyshire — established 2016. Named for Shining Cliff Woods at the Peak District's edge, many of the thirteen botanicals are foraged from these woods: rosehip, bilberry, and local mayflower. Vapour-distilled at 45%. Silver at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Tasting
Thirteen botanicals, many woodland-foraged. Floral nose with hedgerow aromatics. Savoury woodland palate with bilberry, rosehip, and mayflower balanced by juniper and citrus. Juniper and woodland finish.
The Bottom Line
Shining Cliff earns a 7 — the woodland-foraged botanicals create genuine Peak District terroir. Silver at San Francisco confirms the quality. At £39, Derbyshire woodland gin from a wire works distillery.
