Sipsmith London Dry Gin — The Small-Batch Revival That Changed Everything
London Dry 41.6% ABV ABV Sipsmith DistilleryClassic G&T material
Sipsmith with Fever-Tree is my go-to G&T. The bold juniper and marmalade citrus shine through the tonic, and the liquorice root adds a subtle sweetness. Consistent quality batch after batch.
Reliable excellence
Whenever I want a properly made London Dry, I reach for Sipsmith. The coriander seed warmth complementing assured juniper is a classic combination done with real skill. The cinnamon and cassia on the finish are warming.
Juniper done brilliantly
The juniper here is lively and almost meadow-fresh — not the heavy, resinous juniper you get in some London Drys. At 41.6%, the angelica root and orris root create a beautiful earthy depth beneath the bright juniper top notes.
The craft gin pioneer
Sipsmith helped restart London's craft distilling and the quality shows. The bright, inviting nose with meadow-fresh juniper is gorgeous. Orris root and liquorice add creamy depth. The medium-long finish with warm spice is superb.
Textbook London Dry
This is London Dry done right. Bold juniper, coriander seed warmth, angelica root earthiness — everything in its proper place. At 41.6% it's rounded and generous. The marmalade citrus is a lovely flourish.
London Dry at its finest
Sipsmith London Dry at 41.6% is everything you could want in a gin. The bright, meadow-fresh juniper with coriander warmth, angelica depth, and that gorgeous marmalade citrus is a masterwork. The medium-long finish with cinnamon, cassia, and gentle spice persisting in equal measure is flawless. The gin that reignited London craft distilling.
Good but not great
Sipsmith is well made at 41.6% with bold juniper and coriander warmth, but I find the liquorice root a bit too present. The cassia and cinnamon on the finish can be slightly cloying. A solid London Dry, but perhaps overhyped for what it delivers.
