First Impressions
Slingsby uses twenty-four botanicals — seventeen grown in Rudding Park Hotel's kitchen garden in Harrogate, plus Taylors of Harrogate green and jasmine tea. Named after William Slingsby who discovered Harrogate's spring water at Tewit Well in 1571. Launched in 2015.
Tasting
The nose is herbal and citrusy with grapefruit and florals. On the palate, refreshing rhubarb and grapefruit burst giving way to juniper, then smooth herbaceous sweetness with sweet cicely and jasmine tea. The finish is sweet, fresh with rhubarb.
The Bottom Line
Slingsby earns an 8 for the most comprehensive garden-to-glass gin in Yorkshire. Seventeen botanicals from a single hotel kitchen garden creates unmatched provenance, and the Taylors tea collaboration adds Harrogate heritage. Serve with grapefruit peel and blueberries.
