Tasting Notes

Nose

Lively citrus punch — lemon and grapefruit zest with gentle floral sweetness from heather and gorse, the Hebridean provenance immediately present

Palate

Cubeb providing cool peppery lift — cassia bringing warm spice, heather and gorse adding island floral sweetness, the purest Hebridean water creating distinctive texture

Finish

Long dry and welcoming — the first Isle of Lewis gin earning its place with quality rather than mere novelty

First Impressions

Stornoway is the first gin ever distilled on the Isle of Lewis — founded by island natives David & Karen, inspired by the iconic Lews Castle across Stornoway harbour. Heather and gorse foraged locally alongside cubeb and cassia. Silver at London Spirits Competition.

Tasting

The nose is lively citrus with heather-gorse florals. On the palate, cubeb pepper lift with cassia warmth, island florals and Hebridean water texture. The finish is long, dry and welcoming.

The Bottom Line

Stornoway earns a 7 for the first Isle of Lewis gin — earning its place through quality. The heather-gorse florals and Hebridean water create genuine island character, and the Silver at London Spirits confirms the standard. From the castle across the harbour to the glass in your hand.
