Moonshot Gin takes the Boutique-y concept to the stratosphere — literally. Every gram of botanicals was sent into near-space (over 24km altitude) and exposed to extreme low pressure before being vacuum-distilled at room temperature. The botanical bill includes actual moon rock. The San Francisco Double Gold 2019 proves the concept transcends gimmickry.
Tasting
The nose features coriander and lemon drizzle cake with subtle pepper — good juniper, soft coriander, lemongrass, and ginger. On the palate, juniper with citrus goodness and balancing spice — peppery with lots of citrus mid-palate. The finish brings bitter lemon and tangerine with sharp citric acid lingering.
The Bottom Line
Moonshot earns a 7.5 — the space treatment and moon rock are Boutique-y at their most ambitious, and the Double Gold confirms the liquid is genuinely excellent. At around £35, a piece of near-space in your glass.
