First Impressions
Three Wrens is a Cheshire artisan distillery that grows many of its own botanicals — fir, magnolia, apple mint, lemon balm and angelica sourced from surrounding woodland. The Original Dry Gin adds saffron and vanilla to these homegrown ingredients. Global Gin Masters Gold 2022 and Guild of Fine Food Golden Fork winner.
Tasting
The nose is juniper-forward with pink grapefruit brightness and homegrown herb aromatics. On the palate, juniper-forward with pink grapefruit, silky smooth with saffron and vanilla warmth, magnolia and apple mint providing distinctively Cheshire freshness. The finish is smooth and clean with saffron warmth lingering.
The Bottom Line
Three Wrens earns a 7 for genuine homegrown provenance — growing your own botanicals is rare and commendable. The magnolia and apple mint are distinctive, and the saffron adds luxurious warmth. Known for innovative expressions including the world's first Apple Crumble Gin. Pairs well with Mediterranean tonic.
