First Impressions
Bepi Tosolini is one of Italy's most respected grappa producers — a family distillery in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Their GinT uses a dry grape-based spirit (from Moscato grapes) rather than grain neutral spirit, adding body and faint sweetness. Friulian juniper berries from the Adriatic coast are joined by coriander, angelica, mace, vanilla pods, and sweet orange peel.
Tasting
Moscato grape spirit base with Friulian juniper and Italian botanicals. The nose is gentle, herbaceous, and piney. On the palate at 43%, dry and clean: juniper upfront, black pepper, rosemary, vanilla, and herbaceous finish. The grape base adds body. The finish is pine-fresh with pepper spice.
The Bottom Line
Tosolini GinT earns a 7 — when a premier grappa house makes gin, the grape-spirit base adds dimension that grain spirit cannot match. The Friulian juniper from the Adriatic coast provides a distinctive Italian character. Best in a Negroni where the grape body plays with vermouth. At £53, premium Italian distilling heritage applied to gin.
