First Impressions
Trevethan Cornish Gin is made to an old family recipe created in the 1920s by Norman Trevethan. Ten botanicals include hand-picked Cornish elderflower and gorse flower alongside classic gin ingredients. Each batch is distilled and bottled by hand using the traditional London Dry method. Voted one of the world's top 20 gins by Forbes Magazine.
Tasting
The nose delivers bold juniper becoming lighter with pine and citrus, vanilla and gorse sweetness. On the palate, a big juniper hit followed by liquorice from angelica and spicy cinnamon. Citrus from lemon, orange and elderflower rounding off with a final cardamom kick. Smooth oily mouthfeel from gorse and vanilla. The finish is crisp and floral.
The Bottom Line
Trevethan earns a 7 for a family recipe with genuine Cornish heritage. The gorse and elderflower give it local character, and the vanilla adds a smoothness that makes it very drinkable. Forbes top 20 endorsement confirms what Cornwall already knew.
