Ford's Gin is a London Dry gin made by Thames Distillers in England. ABV: 45% ABV. Key botanicals include juniper, coriander, orris root, jasmine, angelica. Our expert rating is 8/10.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Clean pungent lavender and camphor from the high juniper content — celery and parma violets, citrus zest from three different peels, jasmine adding delicate floral brightness

Palate

Thick viscous mouthfeel with florals arriving upfront — bright juniper building through the mid-palate, jasmine and orris providing a perfumed quality, soft despite the 45% proof, classic London Dry structure with just enough contemporary flair

Finish

Long and lingering — earthy angelica and orris root, citrus fading into liquorice-like notes, cassia warmth, clean and composed, a gin that knows when to let the cocktail take over

Expert Review

8/10

Created by Simon Ford of The 86 Company — a spirits brand ambassador who spent years behind some of the world's best bars — and distilled by Charles Maxwell at Thames Distillers in Clapham. Nine botanicals steeped for 15 hours, with over half the botanical bill being Italian juniper for a bright rather than heavy pine profile. Jasmine flowers add a floral lift. Rated 4/5 by The Gin Is In, Difford's calls it a bartender's essential. The gin designed by a man who served thousands of cocktails before making one.
