Nose
Strong juniper — piney and clean, hints of fruit and wild grass, the rye base providing a subtle grainy warmth underneath, Nordic freshness from birch leaves and sea buckthorn
Palate
Juniper-forward with nutty rye character — cranberry tartness, coriander and cardamom spice, sweet floral meadowsweet, birch leaf providing a green Nordic quality, pepper and paprika warmth, complex and layered
Finish
Dry and crisp — herbal and floral undertones, the rye base carrying warmth and body, clean Finnish character, moderate length that invites the next sip
Expert Review
8/10Born on 10 May 2012 when five friends — Miika, Jouni, Mikko, Kalle and Miko — sat in a Finnish sauna drinking American rye whisky and wondered why nobody made rye whisky in Finland. They converted a disused dairy in the village of Isokyrö into a distillery. In 2015, Napue Gin won IWSC World's Best Gin for G&T and sold out in two days. Rye-base spirit with Finnish wild botanicals — cranberry, sea buckthorn, birch leaves, meadowsweet. Sixteen botanicals in total.
