First Impressions
Aber Falls Orange Marmalade Gin comes from Abergwyngregyn in North Wales, made using water filtered through Snowdonia mountain rock. The marmalade flavour captures that breakfast-table nostalgia of sweet-bitter orange preserves, balanced against piney juniper and aromatic spice.
Tasting
The nose delivers piney juniper with tangy citrus peels, coriander and cardamom, plus soft orange marmalade sweetness. On the palate, sweet and full of citrus — refined balance of sweet and bitter orange with juniper pine, incredibly smooth without tasting boozy. The finish is warming with marmalade sweetness, just the right amount of orange with slightly bitter balance.
The Bottom Line
Aber Falls Orange Marmalade earns a 7 for capturing marmalade's bittersweet character rather than mere orange sweetness. The Snowdonia water gives it a clean, soft texture, and at 41.3% it carries more backbone than many flavoured gins. At around £24, cracking value for a zesty Welsh gin.
