First Impressions
Aber Falls Rhubarb & Ginger uses Snowdonia mountain-filtered water with tangy rhubarb and warming ginger. At 41.3%, it carries more backbone than many flavoured gins. From the same Welsh distillery as the Orange Marmalade expression.
Tasting
The nose is zesty citrus with tangy fresh rhubarb and piney juniper underneath. On the palate, tart rhubarb balanced by piney juniper with warming ginger and black pepper spice — crisp though sweet, reminiscent of Rhubarb and Custard sweets. The finish is warming ginger with persistent rhubarb tang.
The Bottom Line
Aber Falls Rhubarb & Ginger earns a 7 for a fruit gin at a proper ABV. The ginger adds warming spice that elevates it above simple fruit-flavoured gins, and the Snowdonia water provides clean texture. Fabulous with ginger ale and ice.
