First Impressions
Batch Distillery's Just The Ticket is an ode to their former head distiller Ollie — a tribute bottled at a punchy 45% ABV that says more about their respect for the man than any label copy could. This is a crisp London Dry gin, unadorned and confident, that demonstrates what a skilled distiller can achieve with classic botanicals and proper technique.
Tasting
The nose is savoury and floral with fruity undertones and pine-fresh juniper. On the palate at 45%, fruity undertones are balanced by mouth-watering citrus — lemon and orange brightness with piney juniper providing structure. The higher ABV gives real body and warmth. Clean London Dry character throughout. The finish is piney and citrus — crisp and warming.
The Bottom Line
Batch Just The Ticket earns a 7 — a London Dry that does exactly what the name suggests. No unnecessary complexity, no trend-chasing botanicals — just a well-made gin at a proper strength. The 45% is perfectly judged: enough to carry the botanicals with authority without becoming hot. Best in a G&T with Indian tonic and a slice of orange as the distillery recommends, or in their Gin Sidecar cocktail. At £35, a tribute to a head distiller that drinks like one. Just the ticket indeed.
