First Impressions
Brecon Chocolate Orange is the indulgent expression from Penderyn's Brecon range — rich cocoa and silky vanilla meet zesty orange over the Brecon gin base. Gold with 96/100 at the 2022 IWSC and Gold at the 2021 Gin Masters. The Terry's Chocolate Orange of the gin world.
Tasting
The nose is bright citrus with subtle cocoa — immediately inviting. On the palate, rich velvety chocolate with powdery cocoa and silky vanilla, yielding to zesty sweet orange bursts and full-bodied juniper. Dry cassia balanced with smooth fresh cream. The finish lingers with smooth cream and well-judged chocolate-orange.
The Bottom Line
Brecon Chocolate Orange earns a 7 for a dessert gin that actually works. The 96/100 at IWSC is remarkable for a flavoured gin, and the cocoa-orange-juniper balance is better than it has any right to be. Best with tonic, cinnamon and orange twist — or as a guilty pleasure over ice.
