Citadelle Gin
Contemporary 44% ABV ABV Maison Ferrand / Château de BonbonnetA Bit Too Exotic
The nineteen botanicals sometimes feel like too many cooks. The star anise and cinnamon are lovely individually but together they can overpower the juniper. At 44% it's well made but I prefer simpler botanical profiles.
France's Greatest Gin
Citadelle is a triumph of French distilling. The star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, and coriander create a symphony of flavour with juniper conducting. At 44% ABV and with that gorgeous long finish, this is as good as gin gets.
Exceptional Botanical Depth
The star anise and coriander on the palate are beautifully balanced by warm cardamom and gentle cinnamon. The finish evolves from lingering spice to anise sweetness before a dry, peppery conclusion. Stunning.
Cognac Country Gin
Made in the Cognac region, Citadelle brings a French sophistication to gin. The violet florals on the nose are gorgeous, the star anise adds intrigue, and the cinnamon-cardamom spice is warming. Very well made at 44%.
Spice-Led and Smooth
Citadelle leans into its spice profile with confidence. The cardamom and cumin warmth on the palate is lovely, the star anise adds depth, and the juniper backbone keeps everything grounded at 44% ABV.
Perfect Negroni Gin
The star anise and cinnamon play brilliantly against Campari and sweet vermouth. At 44% ABV Citadelle has enough presence to hold its own in any cocktail. The long, evolving finish is sensational.
French Spice Elegance
Citadelle's nineteen botanicals create extraordinary complexity. The star anise and cinnamon weave through juniper beautifully, and the cardamom adds exotic warmth. At 44% ABV it's perfectly poised. A masterclass in balance.
