First Impressions
Cotswolds No.1 Wildflower Gin starts with a London Dry base of juniper, coriander and angelica, then adds essences of cornflowers, lavender, orange and rhubarb root. Inspired by the Cotswolds' glorious wildflower grasslands, it is the distillery's floral counterpart to their acclaimed Dry Gin.
Tasting
The nose offers subtle floral notes of summer meadows with fragrant orange blossom and soft piney juniper. On the palate, delicate lavender arrives with sweet bursts of fresh orange — zesty citrus and piney juniper meet pronounced lavender, rose and zingy peppery spice. The finish is refreshingly dry, clean and balanced with a lingering hint of bittersweet marmalade.
The Bottom Line
Cotswolds Wildflower earns a 7 for a genuinely fragrant floral gin that keeps enough dry gin structure to avoid slipping into perfume territory. The rhubarb root provides earthy grounding beneath the flowers, and the orange adds brightness. Best served as a spritz with premium tonic and a slice of orange — the serve it was designed for.
