First Impressions
East London Liquor Company distils from Bow Wharf — their London Dry uses lemon peel, coriander, juniper, cardamom, grapefruit peel, angelica and cubeb in an Arnold Holstein copper pot still. The result is gloriously creamy and wonderfully flavoursome.
Tasting
The nose opens with soft lemon drizzle cake and fresh leafy coriander, subtly sweet angelica with rich oily juniper and olive hints. On the palate, magnificently creamy mouthfeel with crisp citrus, earthy juniper and cardamom-cubeb spiciness. The finish is oily with refreshing juniper lasting.
The Bottom Line
East London Liquor Company earns an 8 for a properly London-distilled London Dry with a gloriously creamy texture. The cardamom and cubeb provide spice without aggression, and the oily mouthfeel is exceptional. Excellent value at around £28 — works in everything from G&Ts to Negronis.
