First Impressions
Fresha uses fresh strawberries from Huelva in southern Spain — Europe's undisputed strawberry capital, where the combination of Atlantic breezes and Andalusian sun produces the sweetest, most aromatic berries on the continent. The gin is five-times distilled in traditional copper pot stills, with vanilla, star anise, cardamom, and cloves providing warming spice complexity that elevates this beyond a simple fruit gin.
Tasting
Eight botanicals: juniper, Huelva strawberry, lemon and orange peel, vanilla, star anise, cardamom, and cloves. The nose is juicy strawberry with creamy orange sweetness and a prickle of anise. On the palate at 38%, a burst of juicy strawberry is perfectly balanced by zesty citrus and earthy juniper. The sweetness is restrained, allowing the warming spices of cardamom and star anise to emerge mid-palate. The finish is clean and refreshing with lingering strawberry, vanilla warmth, and subtle juniper dryness.
The Bottom Line
Fresha earns a 7 — a strawberry gin where the spice complexity — vanilla, star anise, cardamom — lifts it above the crowded field of fruit gins. The Huelva strawberries bring genuine sun-ripened quality, and the five-times distillation produces a clean spirit. Best in a G&T with elderflower tonic and fresh strawberries, or in a Strawberry Martini. At £35, an award-winning flavoured gin with Spanish sunshine and English craft.
