First Impressions
Gin Bothy Amaretto was born from an Italian agritourism trip — watching almonds ground into paste for Amaretto coffees inspired this infusion into Angus Glens gin. Ground almonds with sugar create a nutty, fruity liqueur at 20%. Bronze at Scottish Gin Awards and Great Taste Award winner.
Tasting
The nose shows nutty almond with cherry brandy warmth. On the palate, lip-smacking nutty fruit — strawberry, sugared almond and cherry brandy with orange. The finish is warm almond sweetness.
The Bottom Line
Gin Bothy Amaretto earns a 7 for an Italian-Scottish gin liqueur with genuine charm. The almond character doesn't disappoint, and the Angus gin base provides enough backbone. Best neat on ice or in a nutty cocktail.
