First Impressions
Malfy Con Arancia uses Sicilian blood oranges with Protected Geographical Status, infused for 36 hours in Italian grain spirit before being vacuum-distilled in stainless steel for five hours. The vacuum distillation captures the blood orange's vibrant character without heat degradation. The vibrant reddish-pink colour comes naturally from the fruit.
Tasting
The nose is orange blossom enveloping with juicy blood orange, grapefruit peel, and floral whispers. On the palate, crisp and citrus-forward with raspberry-like balance alongside herbal notes — juicy blood orange with juniper but no sugar-sweetness. The finish brings sweet orange zest — smooth, well-rounded, and long with lingering zestiness.
The Bottom Line
Malfy Con Arancia earns a 7.5 for using PGI-protected Sicilian blood oranges and vacuum distillation to create a genuinely vibrant Italian orange gin. The natural colour and the absence of added sweetness distinguish it from competitors. At around £25, Italian citrus excellence.
