First Impressions
Sheringham Distillery on Vancouver Island created Kazuki from love of both Eastern and Western botanicals. Japanese cherry blossom petals arrive preserved in salt and are vapour-infused in the gin basket. The green tea comes from Westholme Tea Company — Canada's first and only commercial organic tea grower. Yuzu peel adds Japanese citrus. Gold at the 2021 World Gin Awards.
Tasting
Cherry blossom, green tea, yuzu, grapefruit, juniper. Floral blossom nose. Bold citrus palate with delicate florals and tea. Herbaceous finish.
The Bottom Line
Sheringham Kazuki earns an 8 — the East-meets-West concept is executed with genuine care, and the local green tea adds Canadian provenance. World Gin Awards Gold. At £41, Vancouver Island craft with Japanese soul.
