First Impressions
Trevethan Grapefruit & Lychee uses a unique approach: the 1920s London Dry base is made on pot stills, then grapefruit and lychee essence is separately distilled on a small 40L still and added post-distillation. This separate distillation gives precision control over the fruit character.
Tasting
The nose is vibrant grapefruit with piney juniper and lychee sweetness. On the palate, sharp grapefruit with mellow lychee rose-like florals — vanilla and coriander keeping it gin. The finish is remarkably dry.
The Bottom Line
Trevethan G&L earns a 7 for the separate essence distillation approach. The lychee provides rose-like sweetness that grapefruit alone cannot achieve, and the dry finish is impressive for a fruit gin. Forbes Top 20 distillery quality.
