Plymouth Gin is a Plymouth gin made by Plymouth Gin Distillery in England. ABV: 41.2% ABV. Key botanicals include juniper, coriander, orange peel, lemon peel, angelica root. Our expert rating is 8/10.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Fresh juniper — sweet orange and lemon, earthy angelica, softer and rounder than London Dry

Palate

Full-bodied and smooth — earthier than London Dry, juniper present but rounded rather than aggressive, sweet citrus peel, cardamom warmth, the Dartmoor water adding softness, the Dominican monastery's 230 years of spirit evident in the balance

Finish

Soft and rounded — earthy and clean, the Plymouth style's gentle authority, longer than expected, warming and satisfying

Expert Review

8/10

England's oldest working gin distillery — a former Dominican monastery since 1793. The only gin with a geographical indication: it can only be made here, in Plymouth. Softer and more full-bodied than London Dry, with earthier, more rounded character. Seven botanicals and Dartmoor water.
