Tasting Notes

Nose

Intensely aromatic without any harsh alcoholic burn. Juniper is bold and resinous — almost waxy in its concentration — with a sappy, coniferous depth that the standard Plymouth only hints at. Orange peel and lemon zest are vivid and immediate, their citrus oils amplified by the high ABV. Green cardamom adds an exotic, almost camphorous spice note. Beneath it all, angelica root provides a firm, dry anchor.

Palate

Powerful and commanding. The 57% ABV delivers extraordinary intensity without aggression — a feat of distilling skill. Juniper coats the palate with resinous authority, while coriander seed adds a warm, peppery dimension. The citrus notes are bright and penetrating, and the green cardamom, more prominent here than in the original strength, brings an aromatic complexity that elevates the entire profile. Orris root lends a powdery elegance that softens the edges.

Finish

Long and deeply satisfying. The juniper persists with remarkable tenacity, gradually yielding to warm cardamom and a lingering citrus brightness. There is a gentle heat — welcome, not aggressive — and a dry, earthy close from the angelica root. A finish of real stature.

The quality at 57% is undeniable — the juniper is bold, the coriander and citrus peels are vivid — but for casual drinking it's simply too powerful. The angelica earthiness on the finish can be heavy.

Plymouth Navy Strength at 57% ABV is intensely aromatic without harsh burn. The juniper is bold and resinous, the coriander seed adds warmth, and the orange and lemon peel bring brightness. The angelica root grounds everything beautifully.

The long, deeply satisfying finish tells you everything about this gin's quality. At 57% ABV the juniper, coriander, orange peel, lemon peel, and angelica create something truly exceptional.
