First Impressions
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Sardinian Citrus adds one of the world's rarest citrus fruits — Sardinian citron, found only on the island of Sardinia — to the original twelve-botanical Gunpowder tea gin base. Crafted on a medieval copper pot at The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim.
Tasting
The nose melds strong orange peel with black pepper, earth and tea leaf — bright Sardinian citrus adding Mediterranean zest. On the palate, fresh and rounded with juniper and spice, then a burst of Sardinian citrus — orange and grapefruit leading to juicy florals. The finish is Mediterranean-bright over the Irish Gunpowder tea base.
The Bottom Line
Drumshanbo Sardinian Citrus earns a 7 for the Mediterranean twist on Ireland's most distinctive gin. The rare Sardinian citron adds genuine exclusivity, and the original Gunpowder tea base provides the earthy complexity that makes it more than just another citrus gin. The ceramic bottle limited edition adds collector appeal.
