First Impressions
Tumbledown Distillery — believed to be the world's most southerly — distils micro-batches of just 70 litres at a time on the Falkland Islands. Botanicals are hand-gathered in the wild, including scurvy grass — the vitamin C-rich plant that saved countless sailors from scurvy. The water comes from Tumbledown Mountain, filtered through peat, lichen, and stone.
Tasting
Falklands-foraged botanicals with mountain stream water. Bright mineral nose. Citrus and scurvy grass palate at 46%. Wild botanical finish.
The Bottom Line
Tumbledown earns an 8 — the world's most remote gin with the world's most remote terroir. The scurvy grass and mountain stream water create something truly unique. At £166, extreme pricing reflecting the extreme remoteness — every bottle travels 8,000 miles from the South Atlantic.
